CRANE ‘Making it Better’ learning event: January 2026

The 2025 CRANE Annual Report was published in December 2025. The January 2026 ‘Making it Better’ session was open to all Cleft Service team members and stakeholders for an opportunity to reflect on the Annual Report and learn from best practice.

The session was split into four parts:

• 2025 Annual Report: overview of data completeness and outcomes, new features, good practice recommendations from positive outlier responses, and Organisational Audit summary
• Shared learning and good practice by Cleft Services: 6 speakers covering 1) early diagnosis, and 2) treatment approach for optimal speech outcomes
• Q&A session
• CRANE Database developments: new patient information leaflets, gestational age & birthweight, 5-year-old index open for complete BCLP, surgical timings, Cleft Q & TIM scores at 10y.
